Smackdown Project Due 2/14/23
Discord is a free voice, video, and text communication platform designed for gamers, but it has since expanded to become a popular social platform for communities of all kinds. The app is available on desktop and mobile devices and can be used to create and join servers, which are communities built around specific topics or interests.
Within servers, users can participate in text and voice chats, share files, and create and join voice channels for group calls. Discord also supports the creation of roles and permissions for different members, which allows for customization of the user experience within a server.
In addition to servers, Discord offers direct messaging and the ability to join or create groups for even more socialization options. The app also supports integration with other popular apps, such as Spotify and Twitch, allowing users to share music and stream content directly in Discord.
Overall, Discord is a versatile communication tool that can be used for anything from gaming to socializing and is particularly popular among online communities.
Jessica I enjoyed your presentation about Discord because it is something I am familiar with and enjoy using. At first the beta cite was used as a hub platform for us fellow gamers to chat about strategy and then socialization became what is was known for best. I agree that Discord can help network and can be used for professional ventures as it demeanor is less strict and more user friendly of people of all ages. I think that this can help aid in your profession as I am a fellow criminal justice practitioner as you can be a cyber agent who helps locate suspects while acting as a gamer for instance.
