Chapter 6: Building Your Connected Learning Community
This chapter focuses on the process of developing a personal learning network. This chapter defines a personal learning network, explains how it works, and explains how you may profit from it. These networks may be regarded as information streams from which information is acquired and then brought back into professional learning communities of practice for implementation. A personal learning network, according to the authors, involves an individual's topic-oriented aim, or arranging knowledge from credible sources to aid the individual in obtaining and accomplishing a professional goal. Although the function of tools is more significant than their names in this chapter, Twitter, Instagram, and other famous social media networks are mentioned.
The chapter also discusses how to construct and develop your website. This chapter emphasizes the need of maintaining patience and perseverance when dealing with networking. The writers also stress the need of structure and familiarity in all learning groups. This will guarantee that everyone participates and feels at ease discussing thoughts.
The benefits of digitizing the Criminal Justice System include providing the public with access to crimes and criminals while the cases are still ongoing. For example, as most people are aware, the George Floyd case sparked the Black Lives Matter movement, which was widely publicized on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. "He has been arrested more than 70 times since he began filming the city's police force, the NYPD, in the late 1990s," Nevett writes. His use of video to show police brutality paved the way for today's burgeoning police accountability movement in the United States."
My career in criminal justice aims to stay away from social media it is frowned upon in some aspects because being in that type of field you don't want to make yourself known especially if you are a cop, FBI, or any position in criminal where it can become unsafe for you and your family. you don't want people you help arrest or put away in court find a way to find you, being that social media is so advanced there are ways to find people on the internet addresses, phone number's,etc. it's not hard to be found on the internet all it takes is one form of information about you and description even and you'll be found. so social media will not be something i can utilize if I am in this type of career.
